We had a great hike at Rock Creek Park on Jesse's day off.

After gymnastics we enjoyed dinner at Coastal Flats and walked around Fairfax Corner.
 So sweet.
 Treats!
Neva took a bath in her frozen yogurt.
Bedtime with the girls is so special- most every night we read, sing, and pray together.

Grandma and Grandpa Robert

We're having a great time with Grandma and Grandpa Robert here!
A little rain couldn't stop us from a 4 mile walk around Lake Mercer.
 Savannah walked the whole way!!

Geneva was tired after our cul de sac dinner and had some rest time.
Sunday we were thrilled to go to church with Grandma.
We went to the Kennedy Center where the girls participated in the instrument "petting zoo".
It was a great experience- the kids were able to play many instruments that make up an orchestra.

Then we went hear the NSO Family Concert while watching Dan Dunn speed paint to the music.
What a fun afternoon before the AWANA end of the year parties.

Daughter Dates

It's so fun being a mom of daughters! We have such fun together. Lately, the girls and I have been reading Anne of Green Gables. It's amazing to me that they beg for more chapters after sitting for a while listening (maybe it's just to put off going to bed).
Well, a group of mothers put on a tea for their daughters with an Anne of Green Gables theme.
Maddie and I had a special date!
She was excited to wear a string of pearls that my dad had given me when I was little.
Maddie and her sweet friend, Faith at the tea.
I loved her face when she tried the lemon meringue!
Our table was made up of "kindred spirits".
My girl is growing up to be such a sweet young lady!
We had a great time together listening to a devotion about being close to God, playing games like marbles and jax, and eating delicious tea treats.
Since Savannah was unable to go to the tea, I took her on a bike date to Starbucks.
She biked and I ran. On the way home we played at the park.
Savannah was thrilled to bring Grace on her bike.
 Cookies and apple juice.
I love Savannah's imagination- I think (hard to hear) she told me a pretend story the whole way home!

We Have a Special Visitor

"We have a special visitor": Reepicheap the hamster. The girls made up a little song about their new pet the morning after we got him. They are thrilled to have a fuzzy little guy to love.
Maddie and Daddy put together the cage as he rolled around the house.
Here's a close up of the little guy- he's a bit of a biter.
We also had a fun visitor for lunch last week- Maddie LOVES babies.
We collected rocks last week after learning about igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks.
The girls also painted a few.
While Jesse was out of town last week, I had a visitor in my bed every night- this little snuggle bug.

Field Trip to Roosevelt Island

We had a lovely field trip to Roosevelt Island this week.
We learned a little about our 26th President and why there's an island named after him.
I printed off some age-appropriate Springtime scavenger hunts. The younger ones had pictures, while the older ones had to find type of trees and birds. We had a great time making discoveries!
 Cute friends collaborating.

 Little buddies.
The reward for completing the hunt was a lolly pop!!
We just love being outside!
